Lovage (Levisticum officinale)

Lovage is a perennial, with hollow ribbed stems like celery and leaves that resemble Italian parsley. Lovage can grow to up to 5 feet high.

Native to the Mediterranean and China, lovage was first recognized for its medicinal properties. Over the years, its popularity has waned but it is still a great culinary herb to have around in the kitchen.

Lovage has a subtle, celery and parsley like flavour. It complements soups, salads, stews and sauces. Lovage also goes well with potatoes, tomatoes, chicken, stuffing, rice, vegetables and eggs.
